Villagers demonstrate for rehabilitation

Noamundi: The affected villagers of Kutingta, Korta, Balijhor villages of Noamundi staged a dharna on Friday under the banner of Jameen Bachao Samanvaya Samity before the sub-divisional office at Jagannathpur.

They submitted a memorandum to the SDO demanding rehabilitation and resettlement for families who have lost their homes.

Speaking at the dharna, district president of Forward Bloc John Miran Munda said, �In the vicinity of Noamundi iron ore mines, people of Korta village were driven out from the area leaving behind religious place of Deshaouli and burial ground.

The then general manager D B Sunder Raman had promised their rehabilitation during a public hearing. But till date, there is no response from company side, said Munda.
