Villagers allege lease violation on UCIL management

Jamshedpur, Nov 22: Landowners have started protesting construction of boundary wall along the UCIL Colony under Jadugora thana area in East Singhbhum, terming it as violation of lease rules.
Significantly, in order to increase its security, boundary wall is being constructed in the entire UCIL colony by the UCIL management.
The relatives of Lachhu Oraon, a resident of Ichda Oraon Tola of Jadugoda police station, have put up boards at two places, protesting against the construction and stopped the construction work.
Lachhu Oraon’s son Uma Oraon told that the lease rule is being violated by UCIL. “The boundary wall work is being done by UCIL outside the leased land. In the 1964 settlement, 1312,52 acres of land was given on lease to UCIL. Not even an inch more than that is in their favour,” said Uma Oraon.

He told that the account numbers 193 and 220 of his land are in his name. Work on that land is also being done by UCIL.
Rekha Oraon, the head of the North Ichda panchayat, said that for 50 years, a conspiracy is being hatched to block the road leading to Tirilghutu by UCIL. The villagers have protested against this matter and do not want the road to be blocked. The company should also give compensation to the original land owners.
At the same time, the measurement was done by UCIL by calling Amin from Musabani block.
UCIL official MK Sahu said that after getting the land measured by Amin of Musabani block, its report will be given to the circle officer.
