Villager shot dead in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum

Jamshedpur, Oct 3: A 40-year-old man named Chandramohan Tirkey alias Charka was shot dead by unidentified criminals in Dalki under Goilkera police station area of ​​West Singhbhum district on Saturday night. The area where the incident took place is Naxal infested, the police suspect it to be handiwork of Maoists. However the investigation is still on.

“The area Goilkera is Naxal infested area. The murder might have links with ultras of banned outfit. We are investigating the incident, ” said a police official. 
According to information, the criminals called Chandramohan out of the house and took him to the Goilkera-Manoharpur main road where he was shot three times in the back and head. He died on the spot. The incident happened around 9.15 pm.

The incident has spread panic in the area due to the murder. On receiving the information, Goilkera police reached the spot on Sunday morning and recovered the body. The police have started investigating the murder case. The shells have been recovered from the spot. A leaflet has also been found from the spot. In the leaflet Habba Dabba has mentioned the murder for becoming a hindrance in the gambling operation. The name of any organisation etc. is not mentioned in the leaflet.

Jeeran Tirkey, the wife of the deceased said that they were preparing to sleep after having dinner at around nine o’clock in the night.  While husband Chandramohan was operating the mobile sitting in the adjoining room. Just then a person knocked on the door and called Chandramohan outside to talk about something.
They took Chandramohan towards the road, 50 meters away from the house. Jiran said that right after this he heard the sound of gunshots. On coming out, the husband was found dead lying face down on the road lying in a pool of blood.
