Victory for Para Medical Staff Association as 764 students secure internship opportunities

Ranchi: After a persistent 12-year struggle led by the Para Medical Staff Association, a significant achievement has been realized. A total of 764 successful students from RIMS Ranchi, MGM Medical College, and Shaheed Nirmal Mahato Medical College will now have the opportunity to undertake bond-based services in all government hospitals across the state for a period of one year, serving as interns.
This includes 322 para medical staff who completed certificate courses in Sadar hospitals and 432 para medical staff who completed two-year diploma courses in para medical institutions affiliated with medical colleges. The President of the Para Medical Staff Association, Ramvriksh Mahato, released a statement expressing the association’s satisfaction with the positive outcome.
The result for the 2020-22 session was declared on August 28, 2023, with the internship resolution letter issued on August 30, 2023. However, certain departmental issues led to a temporary halt in the process. President Ramvriksh Mahato formally requested amendments to address these concerns, and the resolution was clarified on November 28, 2023.
Para medical courses have been operational since 2006, yet no permanent reinstatements have been granted thus far. President Ramvriksh Mahato is now urging the Health Minister to consider permanent appointments for the deserving para medical staff, marking a further development in the ongoing advocacy efforts of the association.
