Venkaiah Naidu praises Jharkhand govt.s efforts, announces 75% subsidy

New Delhi: Addressing Information Secretaries and senior officials from different states, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that Jharkhand is developing fast under the capable leadership of Chief Minister Raghubar Das.

It gives pleasure that some of the developed states follow Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh in many respects. The union government wants to boost up the use of community radio so that rural people in remote areas can be connected with it. It is considering giving subsidy for boosting up community radio. Institutions excelling in or promoting community radio will be given 75 per cent subsidy and in the North East, it will be increased to 90 per cent, said Naidu.

The Union Minister said that owing to lack of a communication policy, neither the marginalized people not the government is able to clearly make out if they are benefitted by a scheme or not. The misunderstanding crops up between government and people because of communication gap. The state government should help the union government in making a communication police which is being made.

Referring to the gap between electronic and print media, he said that the government is trying to bridge it. He also said that the states promoting film making will be awarded with Rs. 1 crore after evaluation of their work.
