Jamshedpur: Unidentified thieves took away cash and ornaments worth Rs 13 lakh from a house in Pramathnagar under Parsudih police station area.
Sources said the theft transpired when the house owner Pintu Chakravarty arrived home with his wife. The two had gone to Howrah to receive their son. There was no one in the house. When the couple returned with their son, they found the lock at the front door broken. When they entered the house, they found the almirah open with the cash and jewellery missing.
Local residents said thieves had wreaked havoc in the area for the last several months. They alleged that the local police rarely patrol the area at night.
Last month, locks of half a dozen shops were found broken in Parsudih. The thieves had stolen cash and goods from the shops.
