Kolkata, Sept 15: Utpal Kanti Bal has assumed the charge of Principal Chief Operations Manager, South Eastern Railway on 14.09.2022. Prior to this, Bal was Principal Chief Operations Manager (PCOM) of Eastern Railway.
An Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) Officer of 1988 batch, Shri Bal completed his B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur. He has vast knowledge and experience in different aspects of train operation.
Bal started his career in Railways as Assistant Operations Manager in Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Division. He has worked in various important capacities viz. Chief Freight Transportation Manager, N.F Railway, Maligaon, Chief Transportation Planning Manager, Eastern Railway, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah, Eastern Railway, Sr. Deputy General Manager, Eastern Railway. He was also posted as Principal Chief Operations Manager, South East Central Railway, Bilaspur which is the highest freight loading zone of Indian Railways.
Bal has attended various training programmes in national as well as international levels. He has undergone training in Management at Singapore and Malaysia. He has keen interest in sports and social welfare activities.
