US based alumni to donate 7 lakh US dollars to BIT Sindri for research lab

 

Dhanbad, Nov 22:  USA based  an alumni of BIT Sindri chemical engineering 1959-63  batch  Srinarayan Sharma  will donate 7 lakh US dollars to  his alma mater  for  setting up of  a state-of-art laboratory.

The famous industrialist Srinarayan Sharma  announced this during three- day ( November 15 to 17) Platinum Jubilee celebration of BIT Sindri. Sharma  had attended the celebration along with his wife Vijaya Sharma.

Giving this information today BIT Sindri director Dr  Pankaj Rai said that following  announcement of Srinarayan Sharma , chemical engineering department   head Dr  Amit Gupta is preparing DPR of the state-of-art –laboratory to set up it as soon as possible.

An expert  of the institution said,  state –of-art laboratory is a laboratory  that has latest technology and equipment and is designed to help students develop practical skills and understand theoretical concepts

“ The lab will open path for opportunity of research and  consultancy to students. The research work will  help in improving the ranking of BIT Sindri among technical institutions of the country and  develop sources of income”, said director  Dr Pankaj Rai.

Srinarayan Sharma is original resident of Hajipur ( Bihar) and resides in USA. He also runs an industry in Hajipur.

Last year did not give Rs 1 crore

Members of BIT Sindri  Alumni Association have hailed  announcement of Srinarayan Sharma  but they  have apprehension whether he will give this. An office bearer of BIT Sindri Alumni Association said  last he had  come Sindri and announced to give Rs 1 crore to institution but never paid. So this time since his wife  had announced  we are hopeful he will materialize his announcement.

2nd alumni  to give

Srinarayan Sharma is second alumni of BIT Sindri who has announced  to give grant for construction of research lab on the occasion of  Platinum Jublee celebration of institute. Earlier in October   USA  based  alumnus KP Singh  had announced to give Rs 1 crore for energy  research centre.
