Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) expressed anguish over killings going on unabated in Silli constituency since the assembly election held recently.
Amit Mahato of JMM who defeated AJSU’s Sudesh Mahato raised the issue in the assembly. He said that since the assembly result announced in Silli in December 23 a spate of killings going on unchecked in Silli.
Amit Mahato said that two of the workers Ajit Oraon and Nand Kishore Oraon of JMM were hacked to death on December 27. On the statement of the injured Manoj Oraon give persons were named accused in the case. Further on January 1 a teacher Abhimanyu Mahato and on January 4 Basudev Mahato were also killed.
The legislator of Silli, Amit Mahato informed the house that perpetrators of the crime are still roaming free while the Police are sitting idle. Mahato demanded a CBI enquiry on the murders.
Surprising enough the JMM’s leader of the opposition informed the house that he was going to Silli on Wednesday to meet the victims’ families, but the police tried to stop him midway, but at last he could met the affected families.
Soren said that the family members of the victims had narrated heart-rending experiences. He said that the murders was a reflection of greater political conspiracy such incidents were also being taken place at Seraikela and Kolhan region.
Hemant Soren made serious allegations that police are protecting the murder accused at Silli. “People are being threatened and the JMM workers are facing the brunt of a political conspiracy. People are leaving their homes in fear,” he said.
On the contrary AJSU party MLA Chandra Prakash Choudhry expressed his dismay over the allegations made by JMM while stating that the government would take stern action against the criminals at Silli.
Parliamentary affairs minister CP Singh while recalling assembly tradition said that no allegation be made against the person who is not present in the house.
On this the speaker asked to delete names and the organizations against which Amit Mahato made his allegations from the proceedings of the house.
CP Singh said that adequate security was provided at the residence of Amit Mahato and security personnel were also deputed during his travel.
