Jamshedpur : Police have decided to send pistols used in the murder of transporter Upendra Singh on the civil court premises in Sitaramdera and from the spot of Amit Rai’s murder near Shiv Ganga apartment in Sonari for a forensic test at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Ranchi .
Officer-in-charge, Sitaramdera thana, Rameswar Oraon said in order to ensure that the criminals behind the gruesome acts are arrested steps are being taken. The two double-barrel pistols and a nine MM pistols that they had seized from the two shooters, Binod Singh alias Mowgli and Sonu Singh alias Vicky will be sent for a forensic test at the FSL, Ranchi.
” We have to get the two arrested criminals convicted in a court of law. For ensuring their conviction, it has to be proved that the shots fired at Upendra had been fired from the three pistols,” said Oraon who is the investigating officer of Upendra Singh murder case.
The officer-in-charge said that 14 rounds were fired during the armed attack on Upendra at the Jamshedpur Bar Association building on the civil court premises on November 30 . He said they have collected empty cartridges of the guns used in the murder.
Similarly, officer-in-charge, Sonari thana, Amis Hussain said the nine MM pistol which is said to be that of the murder victim Amit also a testimony whether any shot had been fired from this pistol.
The officer-in-charge, Sonari police station, Amis Hussain, who is the investigating officer of the murder case, said that Akhilesh Singh had enmity with Upendra Singh’s henchmen, Akhilesh conspired the killing of Amit who is staunch supporter of Upendra.
” We are investigating the incident. We believe that Amit’s murder was conspired by Akhilesh because two months ago, the latter had made an abortive bid to kill the former by launching an armed attack at Sakchi.
In this connection, the police had registered a case against Akhilesh Singh and his two shooters Kanhaiya Singh as well as Sudhir Dubey in September,” said the officer-in-charge.
According to sources, Amit has criminal background. He was arrested along with his wife Punam for extorting money in the name of Akhilesh from a Sonari-based businessman in 2003.
He was again arrested for firing at his girlfriend’s house at Sahara City in Mango in 2005, when he had developed proximity with Akhilesh in the jail. He would subsequently work for Akhilesh for the next seven years.
But a brawl with Kanhaiya Singh, a close associate of Akhilesh a year ago had made Amit to shift his allegiance to Upendra Singh. Since last year, Amit, who was also a sharp-shooter, would work for Upendra Singh.
