Unlucky Tata Football Academy crash out of Vedanta Youth Cup

Bengaluru FC edge past TFA 2-0 to reach finals

Panjim/Jamshedpur, Sept. 27:  Tata Football Academy boys missed a couple of golden chances to score a goal when on two occasions the ball bounced back off the post during the must win match against Bengaluru FC to bow out of Vedanta Youth Cup, Goa 2019 on September 27.

Robin Yadav had a great game, coming very close to scoring on two occasions in the final 30 minutes of the game as TFA were trailing 2-0. His outrageous attempt from the right edge of the box in the dying minutes could have earned TFA a consolatory goal but the ball bounced back off the post as Bengalurus second-choice goalkeeper Raj Biswa was rooted in his place.  It turned out to be a close encounter between the two teams but Bengaluru FC edged past the Jamshedpur based side to reach the finals of the tournament.  Both the teams were indulged in an intense battle in the first half with a few reckless tackles coming into play. With a minute remaining for the half time whistle, Bengaluru FC found a breakthrough as Ronik Singh gave his side the lead.

Earlier, TFA midfielder Rishi was the first to receive a yellow card on one such occasion while on the other end, Bengaluru goalkeeper Dipesh Chauhan was booked in the 26th minute as well.

In the meanwhile, joint-top scorer of the tournament Akashdeep Singh of Bengaluru was also shown a yellow card.

The Blues doubled their lead through an in-form Jagdeep Singh as soon as the second half began, to put their opponents under pressure. In the next quarter, Bengaluru looked to have established control and Ronik had a great chance to put an end to the game, but his scuffed shot was saved by TFA goalkeeper Sudarshan.

The #9 was also awarded the Man of the Match trophy by ex-Sesa Football Academy and Goas representative in the Santosh Trophy, Bosco Monteiro, who was the Chief Guest at the match.

In the end, it was a close encounter between the two teams but Bengaluru emerged winners. The Blues will now face the winner between Sesa Football Academy and Reliance Foundation Young Champs in the final on 29th September.
