Unique classical blend on Morning Ragas

Jamshedpur: A unique blend of vocal and instrumental classical music based on Morning Raga set the mental tone with six immaculate presentations by masters in their own rights.
The program, organized at Pitrchhaya in K Road, Bistupur, was the first such program in its genre.

The first presentation was by Ashok Kumar Singh who deftly played Raga Bibhash in Rupak and Teen Tala on the flute. Pradip Bhattacharya accompanied him on the tabla. Their performance set the mood of the program.

Subhash Bose on sitar performed Raga Nat Bhairav in which he included Alaap, Jod, Jhala, Vilambit Laya and Teen Tala. Amitabh Sen on tabla formed a fascinating combination regaled the discerning audience.

Vocalist Nupur Goswami presented a classical number on Raga Basant Mukhari using Bada Khayaal and Bhairavi Bandish with expertise. Swarup Moitra on tabla and Birendra Upadhyay on harmonium provided excellent accompaniment.

Sitarist Debabrata Moitra played Raga Jaunpuri using Alaap, Jod, Jhala, Gat and Teen Tala in his usual, masterly manner. Partho Priya Das on tabla and Srijani Bose on tanpura provided him expert accompaniment.

The last item of this engrossing session was the vocal recital by time tested Sujan Mukherjee who again exhibited his mettle in classical singing. With his silken voice and modulated variations, Sujan�s renditions of Raga Bhim Palasi were indeed a pleasure to the ears and mind. The deft skills of tabaliya Amitabh Sen and the redoubtable Birendra Upadhyay on harmonium lent glitter to the final presentations.

The organizers who did an excellent job in organizing this program included Aniruddha Sen, Ashok Kumar Das, Ravi Sathe, Kiran Sathe, Gurusharan, Krishnendu Bagchi, Nilanjan Mitra, Anil Kumar Singh, Archana Roy Chowdhury, Haraprasad Mukherjee and Prema Dey Mukherjee. The program was anchored by Rohini Sathe.
