Jamshedpur: The Additional District Judge (ADJ)-cum-Special POCSO Court has sentenced Vishal Kumar to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the sexual assault of his 14-year-old niece. Judge Sirish Dutt Tripathi also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on the convict, with an additional three-month imprisonment if he fails to pay.
The case dates back to May 14, 2022, when the victim was rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) with severe stomach pain and excessive bleeding. Medical examination revealed she was four months pregnant and had suffered a miscarriage. Hospital staff administered abortion medication and subsequently reported the matter to Sidgora police.
During the trial, the court heard testimonies from 13 witnesses, including two doctors from TMH. After examining all evidence, the court found Kumar guilty under Section 6(1) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
