Jamshedpur, July 29: State food and civil supplies minister Saryu Roy Monday said the target of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Scheme was mostly achieved in East Singhbhum. The remaining target would be achieved in the month of August, he said.
Addressing a press meet, Roy said there were still a good number of people who had not received the benefits of Ujjwala scheme. Such people would be identified so that they get free LPG connections, he said.
Roy said efforts would be made from 15th August to 21st August to identify Ujjwala beneficiaries in rural areas by organizing Ujjwala Panchayats and ward Panchayats. He said he had directed all PDS shop owners to submit a list of Ujjwala beneficiaries in their respective areas. He said the average of refilling was better in urban areas as compared to their rural counterparts. In East Singhbhum, around 83 per cent people have received the benefits of Ujjwala scheme.
Roy said his department was mulling over plans to paste photographs of Ujjwala beneficiaries and their family members to stop forgery of ration cards.
