Jamshedpur, June 15: Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) workers called off the six day long strike on Saturday.
Before the strike was called off, a wage revision agreement was signed between the workers and company management during a meeting held at Uranium Processing Unit of the PSU.
Sources said the workers would be given a guaranteed benefit equivalent of 12 per cent of basic. Issues regarding various other service benefits would be resolved within next 15 days, sources said.
Some factions of workers expressed dissatisfaction over the wage agreement proposal and called it the worst proposal of the last five decades. The workers said a decision should have been taken on the various allowances provided to them by the company. Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato, MLA Champai Soren, MLA Menka Sardar, Zila Parishad Bulurani Singh, UCIL CMD CK Asnani, financial director of UCIL Devashish Ghosh, DGM Ravindra Kumar, DGM SK Sharma, Manager GC Nayak and representatives of all four labour unions of the company attended the meeting.
