UCIL mines to recommence work from today

Jamshedpur, March 31: As per directives of the home ministry, Government of India, the seven UCIL mines that had been shut down since March 24 in view of coronavirus infection, will resume full scale production from Wednesday, April 1. The mines shut down included Bagjata (Mosabani), Jadugoda, Bhatin, Narwa Pahad, Turamdih, Banduhudang (Gamharia) and Mahuldih (Saraikela).

The UCIL management held discussions with the general secretaries of the five labor unions namely Birbal Singh of UCIL Labor Union, Surjit Singh of Jadugoda Labour Union, Ramesh Majhi of Singhbhum Uranium Mazdoor Union and Anand Mahto of Uranium Mazdoor Sangh. The union leaders were informed about the ministry�s directives and the instructions were put up on the notice boards.

The UCIL management has mentioned in the notice of recommencing production activities in the seven mines that had been shut since March 24. The management has instructed that employees maintain social distancing apply sanitizers to all equipment daily, to keep watch on employees with corona symptoms and other necessary precautions and preventive measures.

The meeting was attended by UCIL Technical Director SR Parnesh, Finance Director Debasish Ghosh, General Manager SK Sharma and Manager GC Nayak.
