Jamshedpur: Tata Workers Union members have asked Chief Minister Hemant Soren to take necessary measures to ensure renewal of lease for iron ore mining in Noamundi Mines pending since January 2012.
The outfit vice president Subodh Srivastava and other members, in a letter sent to the CM on Monday, said the non renewal of the mining lease was bound to have a crippling impact on the various small and medium scale industries in Jharkhand.
Not only Tata Steel, but many of its ancillaries and other companies will be adversely affected by the non-renewal of the lease. The lease for mining of iron ores in Noamundi Mines expired in January 2012.
Application was submitted in 2010 with documents pertaining to the various criteria set for lease renewal for the said purpose attached with it. But unfortunately order for renewal of lease was not passed. As a result, today the threat of abrupt and indefinite closure looms large over the big and large companies in the state, said Srivastava.
The union functionaries said it was the moral duty of the government to safeguard the interests of the companies as well as workers of the state by renewing the lease for iron ore mines in Noamundi.
Among other members who signed the memorandum include Arvind Kumar Pandey, R Ravi Prasad, Shahnawaz Alam and Bhagwan Singh.
