Jamshedpur: Two youths were killed on the spot when the bike they were riding was hit by a bus under the Tonto thana area in West Singhbhum, approximately 100 km from here, on Friday morning. The tragic mishap occurred between Jamdih and Kochda villages on the Jagannathpur-Chaibasa road at around 8.00 am.
The bodies of the victims lay at the accident site for a considerable period before they were identified as Subham Kumar Gupta and Roshan Gope, residents of Chaibasa and Nimdih areas, respectively. Identification was made through their driving licenses and ID cards, which also revealed that both were employed in the Jio Tower section.
Local authorities have seized the bodies and transferred them to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital mortuary for postmortem. According to locals, the bus, reportedly belonging to Laxmi Bus service, was traveling from Jagannathpur, while the victims were heading towards Jagannathpur from Chaibasa at a high speed when the collision occurred.
The Tonto police are actively investigating the incident and are taking statements from local residents to trace the bus involved in the accident.
