Two women killed, girl injured after speeding car ran over them

Jamshedpur, June 6: Two women were killed by a speeding Sumo on early Saturday morning when they were going to take a bath at Domuhani River under Sonari Police Station.

Both the victims Budhni Gope and Jyotsna Seth died on the spot while a girl, Mamata who was also going along with them was severely injured and is being treated at Tata Main Hospital (TMH).

Driver of the vehicle managed to flee the scene leaving his Sumo on the spot. After the incident, locals of the area created ruckus and set the Sumo vehicle and a Maruti Van on fire.

Irate mob also ransacked a company situated in the area which led to hours of road jam at Marine Drive.

According to Sonari police, the speeding Sumo ran over both the women who died on spot at around 5 pm on Saturday morning when they tried to cross the road while going to the river to take bath.

The road block created trouble for the commuters from Mango who take the road to Adityapur industrial area for work.

Local residents also put up a road blockade with the dead bodies demanding adequate compensation to the victims’ family and stringent action against the driver responsible for the incident. �

The hour�s long traffic was put off after the police officers assured the locals and the victims of the family of adequate compensation.

Later, the victim�s family members reached SDO office and after the assurance the case was calmed down.
