Jamshedpur, March 11 : The vicinity around Domuhani bridge over Subernarekha along Sonariare will soon emerge as a safer zone in the city. In order to ensure safety of the commuters the police administration has decided to set up two thana out-post (TOPs).

As per the plans one of the TOPs will be set up at the Sonari end of the Domuhanibridge in the steel city, the other TOP will be set up at Dobo end of the bridge in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

According to information, East Singhbhum district senior SP, AnoopBirtharay has taken initiative for a TOP at the newly-constructed Domuhani bridge, while Seraikela-KharsawanSP Chandan Kumar Sinha has asked his team for carrying out a survey of the commuters in view of setting up a TOP near the new bridge.

Senior SP, Birtharay said he has written to the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, Amit Kumar to request Tata Steel for constructing a three-room structure close to the Domuhanibridge for setting up the TOP.

“As per the situation and understanding the importance of safety of the commuters, we need a TOP at the Sonari side urgently.  We have, therefore, requested Tata Steel for setting up a three-room facility for a new TOP there at Domuhani,” said Birtharay.

The senior SP said four constables and an assistant sub-inspector of police will be posted at the TOP.  He said beside the police men and the ASI, a traffic police will also be posted at the TOP.

On the other hand, SP, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Chandan Kumar Sinha said that in view of the importance of the Dobo-Kanderbera road linking to the steel city through Domuhanibridge, vehicular movement through that stretch has increased considerably. The SP, Seraikela-Kharsawan said he has instructed sub-divisional police officer, Chandil, Dhirendra Narayan Banka to conduct a survey of commuters that use the Dobo-Kanderbera road.

The new bridge in river Subernarekha linking Sonari with Dobo in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district has been up at a cost of Rs 41 crores. The foundation stone for the ambitious project was laid by chief minister Raghubar Das, leading the Kolkata-based construction agency, Royal InfratechPvt Ltd to go ahead with the construction work.

With the bridge becoming operational, the distance between Chandil from Jamshedpur has reduced by about 30 kms as the commuters will not have to go to Chandil — the route for going to Ranchi — via Dimna Chowk. About 10,000 vehicles, including trucks, trailers and car move toward Chandil from Jamshedpur via Dimna Chowk on the NH-33 for the destination like Chandil, Chowka and Ranchi beside other places in Bihar.
