Workshop on farmer’s loan waiver scheme

Jamshedpur, Feb 8: East Singhbhum deputy development commissioner Parmeshwar Bhagat on Monday chaired a workshop on Jharkhand farmers loan waiver scheme at the district collectorate.
The DDC asked the banks officials to submit documents related to loan waiver for farmers by February 10 so that proper implementation can be done of the loan waiver scheme for farmers.
District agriculture officer informed that in the last several years the agriculture relies on vagaries of rainy seasons and is confronted with problems like famine and hailstorm and as a result led to reduction in the income of farmers which is directly posing a problem in clearance of loans,
Keeping this in view, the chief minister Hemant Soren launched the loan waiver scheme on December 29, 2020.
In the first phase of the scheme those farmers who had taken loan for Rs 50,000 will have their loan waived.
Applicant farmers would have to pay a nominal charge of Rs 1 and the age should not be below 18 years.
One family will have one beneficiary of the scheme and applicant will have to be KC loan beneficiary.
Those farmers who have availed loan from two banks will have loan waived for amount of Rs 50,000 only.
