Two sentenced to eight years RI for culpable homicide and robbery in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 29: ADJ-3 Nishant Kumar’s court, hearing a case of culpable homicide and robbery, sentenced Azhar Imam (Kapali Basti) and Mohammad Asif (Khushboo Nagar Azadnagar) to eight years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000. The charges under Section 302/34 (murder) and Section 393/34 (robbery) of IPC were framed against them, but based on evidence they were convicted under IPC Section 304 (ii) (culpable homicide) and robbery. The court heard testimony from eight individuals in this case.

The incident dated back to August 12, 2016. Rahul Singh, husband of the deceased Rinku Devi, lodged an FIR in Sonari police station, stating that on the day of the incident, he was returning home with his wife and child on a motorcycle near Marine Drive. The criminals stopped a truck and attempted to rob it. When Rahul and his family tried to escape, the criminals pursued them, assaulting Rahul with scissors while attempting to rob him. Rinku Devi, attempting to protect her child, was injured when Azhar Imam pushed her, causing her head to strike a divider. Despite efforts to save her, Rinku Devi succumbed to her injuries at TMH during treatment.
