Jamshedpur: The SSP Amol V Homekar revealed that two burglars have been arrested in connection with serial thefts committed in four quarters near CM’s city residence in the dead of night on February 3 at Agrico.
The police swung into action and arrested two burglars within 12 hours of the theft incidents and recovered stolen articles, Homekar said.
The police have arrested one Pintu Nag, a resident of Parsudih, and Vinay Kumar Gupta, a resident of Sidhgora in this connection.
The SSP said that Pintu Nag is a notorious criminal who had earlier been indicted under arms act and has cases of vehicle lifting, theft and other crimes pending against him.
The police also recovered a live cartridge from his procession. Pintu changed his address in recent times on various occasions and carried out thefts in association with his accomplishes, Homekar said.
The SSP said that the arrested persons are habitual offenders who had also carried out thefts on the intervening night of February 1-2 from a quarter on Road no 3 at Agrico under Sitaramdera PS.
The arrested thieves had then stolen cash, jewelry, a firearm of 12 bore and two cartridges. The same group has again struck at Agrico on February 3, the SSP said, adding all stolen articles have been recovered.
The SSP further said that help of sniffer dog was taken to crack the mystery of serial thefts at Agrico but it did not help much.
The thieves had hidden the stolen articles in the slush under the bridge at Bhalubasa which were recovered as well, he said.
