Seraikela, Sep 3: Seraikela-Kharsawan district police shot dead two Maoist ultras in an encounter near Baruda-Sargarha forest of Kuchai police station area early Friday morning. This was informed on Saturday by the Superintendent of Police (SP), Seraikela-Kharsawan, Anand Prakash, at a press conference.
The SP said the ultras killed in the encounter were identified as Reela Manjhiyain of Giridih and Kali Munda of Khunti. “For the last few days, we were receiving information about a Maoist squad led by Anal alias Patiram Manjhi and Amit Munda having been spotted near Baruda and nearby forest areas. Soon a team was formed to crack down on the ultras. During a special search drive, the police team encountered the Maoists near Komai village under Dalbhanga OP around 7 am yesterday. The ultras opened indiscriminate firing on the police team. Two of them were killed in retaliatory firing,” said the SP.

Cops later recovered the bodies of the deceased ultras and recovered huge ammunition from the scene. They suspect several ultras were wounded in the firing.
According to the SP, district police was accompanied by COBRA Battalion, CRPF Battalion, Jharkhand Jaguar, JAP, DAP and SAT jawans. Cops recovered an SLR rifle, one 9 mm magazine, 300 bullets of 7.62 mm caliber, 38 INSAS bullets, two 9 mm pistols, 14 bullets of .303 calibre, four diffused can bombs, a radio set, one interceptor, 25 Maoist uniform, among other things.
