Jamshedpur, Nov 29: Thieves burgled two houses in Chhota Govindpur and made off with gold and silver ornaments along with cash worth more than Rs 3 lakh were stolen in the wee hours of Tuesday. Complaints of theft have been registered at the Govindpur police station.
The burglars targeted the two houses located in Patel Nagar in Chhota Govindpur between 12.30 am and 1 am. Police said that the thieves have been caught in action on CCTVs fitted in commercial organisations located near the houses. Police have started investigating the case on the basis of the CCTV footage.
The thieves first broke into the house of Murlidhar Mishra, a retired Tata Motors employee, and stole jewellery and cash. Mishra realised that his house had been burgled on Tuesday morning when he saw that his house was ransacked and the lock on the almirah in his house too was broken. Cash and valuables worth approximately Rs 2 lakh were stolen from his house.
The house of the tenant of Ramchandra Sharma who stays in a house behind Mishra’s residence was also burgled. According to his complaint cash and valuables worth more than Rs 1 lakh were stolen in the incident.
People who stay in houses near the two that were burgled say that CCTV footage suggests that the two thieves had planned to burgle four-five houses but they were successful in breaking into only two. The bold nocturnal activities of the burglars have put the local people on edge and they are now blaming the police for ineffective patrolling and policing.
