Jamshedpur, June 11: As a part of preventive measures being adopted by South Easter Railway ( SER) for the safety of the passengers in the wake of pandemic COVID- 19, Tatanagar Railway Station has decided to install hi-tech permanent thermal scanners. These scanners costing Rs Two lakhs each will be installed at the entry and exit points of the railway station.
We have started the necessary process to install these machines. Several important railway stations like Lucknow and Nagpur already have such machines. Similarly we are in the process to install the machines soon, said an official of Tatanagar railway station.
He said that the screening of the passengers through this new hi-tech thermal device will help in handling more number of passengers simultaneously. These devices will be installed at the main entry and exit gates of the station.
As per the plans, every passenger visiting the railway station for boarding a train or returning has to undergo thermal screening. The move will cut down the time being taken for screening each individual passenger as the new device can simultaneously screen upto 30 passengers within its range.
The new hi-tech thermal screening device is such that whenever a passenger enters into the camera focusing range, around 6 meters away from entrance, the camera starts to scan the body temperature of the passengers. The temperature of the passenger is displayed on the LED monitor. The cameras installed at both stations are able to scan and record the temperature of the passengers standing in two different lines simultaneously. The data stored can also be retrieved, if needed. The vigil has been stepped up at Tatanagar Railway Station. All the passengers are undergoing thermal screening through hand-held devices, and have to fill up their travel history and contact details at the Tatanagar Station.
Tatanagar railway authorities have also appealed to the passengers to avoid non-essential train journeys and to ensure that they do not have running fever while they are commencing the journey. If a passenger feels that he or she is having fever, the railway staff can be contacted for medical attention and further assistance.
The Tatanagar railway station is the only A1-category railway station under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway ( SER). The footfall at the station is gradually on the rise because of an increasing number of special trains and also because of the fact that Tatanagar falls on the Howrah-Mumbai main line.
