Two-day training on Environmental Building for Inclusive Education commences

Gamharia: A two-day training program focused on environmental building for inclusive education kicked off in the block auditorium. This training was attended by all new primary schools and primary school principals in the area. The training was jointly inaugurated by Area Education Officer Ambuja Raj Lakshmi and Block Education Extension Officer Subrata Mahato.
During the opening ceremony, the Area Education Officer emphasized that teachers should apply the knowledge gained in their respective schools. They were encouraged to make provisions for ramps, accessible toilets, and more in their schools as part of the environmental building discussed in the training.

The Block Education Extension Officer highlighted the fact that disabled students often discontinue their education due to a lack of resources, and therefore, it is important to ensure that these children can fully integrate into mainstream society after completing their studies. The training included information from resource teacher Seema Kumari regarding government facilities provided to disabled students, such as escorts, transportation, self-reliance incentives, reader allowances, and dictation assistance for visually impaired children.

Attendees were encouraged to make all schools barrier-free, ensuring access to clean drinking water and suitable restrooms for disabled students, ultimately allowing them to remain in school. The training also stressed that ramp dimensions should follow a 1:12 ratio, enabling disabled students to easily move about in wheelchairs independently. Furthermore, the width of toilet doors should be 900 mm to accommodate students using wheelchairs and crutches. Over one hundred teachers participated in the training
