Jamshedpur, Feb 18: The Adi Kali Mandir premise in East Bengal Colony has been witness to observance of Maha Shiv Ratri since more than 50 years. Not only do the denizens of East Bengal Colony participate with absolute religious and festive fervor but devotees from far and near attend the Maha Shiv Ratri celebration for prayers and partaking of consecrated food (Bhog).
The Adi Kali Mandir committee members Prabir Das alias Babla, Shankar Das and Sujit Dey informed that Maha Shiv Ratri rituals will commence from 6 am on February 21 with the Radha-Krishna rituals and with it will begin the two day Sankirtan event. At 8 pm, the Divine duo of Radha-Krishna will be worshipped. Shiv-Parvati puja will commence from 10 pm on February 21.
The residents of East Bengal Colony are working in tandem to ensure successful observance of Maha Shiv Ratri. February 22 being the dark lunar phase (Amavasya), Goddess Kali will be worshipped at 7:30 pm. Amavasya, in Hindu scripture, is the auspicious moment for the Mother�s worship. After the worship, Bhog or consecrated food will be distributed among the thousands of devotees from the locality and various far and near areas. The organizing committee for this two-day Mahotsav comprises Shankar Dutta, Uday Nandi, Gautam Majumdar, Ashim Pal, Rabindranath Karmakar, Shyamal Karmakar, Nilkanth Karmakar, Dr Pulak Das, Dr Sanjay Nandi, Babulal Das, Uttam Karmakar, Dilip Pal, Biplab Pal, Tanmay Nandi, Shyam Sunder Das and Chhotka Das.
