Jamshedpur, March 13: Police arrested two youths with a hoard of arms in Purulia (West Bengal) on Wednesday. The accused persons, identified as Adhir Singh and Madhu Singh Sardar, were reportedly planning to enter Jharkhand through Purulia. But before they could pass Balrampur, a team of local police caught them and confiscated the arms.
Cops suspect the youths were going to supply the said arms to Naxalites in Jharkhad. West Bengal police arrested the two on the basis of a tip-off.
Police in the three states of West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand are on high alert in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Joint as well as separate operations are being launched in the bordering villages of the three states to prevent entry and exit of Naxalites and criminals.
Sources said the Dalma hill area is especially sensitive due to Naxalite activities. It is a passageway to East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan.
