Seraikela, Oct 28: The political landscape for the upcoming assembly elections in Seraikela-Kharsawan district has been reshaped with the disqualification of two candidates out of 51 who initially filed nominations. The scrutiny of nominations revealed errors in the forms submitted by Reena Mahato from Ichagarh and Mangal Singh Munda from Kharsawan, leaving 49 candidates eligible to contest.

Reena Mahato’s nomination was annulled due to inaccuracies in her submission, as she had filed her nomination in only one set, leading to its cancellation. Conversely, Tarun Mahato, also from Ichagarh, will remain in the race after one of his two sets was accepted without issues. This leaves 23 candidates vying for the Ichagarh seat.

In Kharsawan, the situation is similar, as Mangal Singh Munda’s nomination was rejected for errors in both sets he submitted, disqualifying him from the race. Consequently, Kharsawan will see 10 candidates competing for the seat. In contrast, all nominations submitted for the Seraikela assembly seat were accepted, maintaining the original count of 16 candidates.

The process of withdrawal of nominations will conclude on October 30, after which candidates will shift their focus towards campaigning. With a total of 49 candidates now confirmed, the electoral battle is set to heat up, reflecting the dynamic political climate leading up to the elections.
