Jamshedpur : In shocking cases of suicides, two teen-agers, including a 15-year-old girl committed suicide at Jugsalai and Adityapur. A 15-year-old girl, Gauri Biruli committed suicide by hanging at her house in Kuluptanga under RIT police station area in Adityapur early this morning, in another incident a 17-year-old boy, Mohammed Dilsad came in front of a running train on the track along Jugsalai.
In both the cases neither the family members nor the police could get a clue to the reasons that prompted these two teen-agers to commit suicide.
A resident of Garib Nawaj Colony, Dilsad was killed on being run over a speeding train along the Jugsalai market. Dilsad’s father Mohammed Sagir said that his son was observing fast on the occasion of the holy Ramzan.
The deceased was one of the three children of Sagir who works in a local industry. Dilsad too worked in an industrial unit as welder. A police party had soon reached the spot and recovered the body for sending it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem. Officer-in-charge, Ashok Giri of the Jugsalai police station said this to be a case of suicide.
In another case, the 15-year-old girl Gauri committed suicide by hanging in the small hours today. She used an old `dupatta’ for hanging from an iron bean at her room which was bolted from inside. Gauri was a class VIII student of a local government-run school and has left clue to the reason behind the suicide as such. Gauri’s bother, Chandu Biruli said that his sister had taken food last night as usual and had gone to bed by 11 pm.
Chandu said immediately after he informed the police leading them to seize the body and send it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for treatment. He, however, could not say anything about the reason behind the suicide. Officer-in-charge, RIT police station, Pramod Kumar Singh said this to be a case of suicide.
The Steel City is witnessing alarming rise in cases of suicides. A total of 128 people have committed suicide in the city since January 1 this year, according to officials of Jeevan, a suicide prevention centre in the city. On Sunday, two persons committed suicide by hanging at separate places.
While in one of the incident, a 25-year-old youth, Sanjiv Horo, committed suicide by hanging in a room at Ashish Apartment, under Kadma police station area, in another incident a 40-year-old man, Mangal Gope, hanged himself at his house in Kitadih under Parsudih police station area in the early morning. Sanjiv was a private security guard posted at the Ashish Apartment where he was posted.
The police have recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem having registered a case of unnatural death. Officer-in-charge, Kadma police station, Jaiprakash Rana said this to be a case of suicide. He said from the condition of the body it appeared that the youth committed suicide past midnight.
In the other incident Mangal Gope’s body was found hanging from a wooden beam his house in Kitadih under Parsudih police station area. Gope who was father of three children was an unskilled worker and would work in construction sites on a daily wage. Officer-in-charge, Parsudih police station, Dayanand Kumar said that bad financial condition of Gope led him to commit suicide. The police have recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.
