TSAF Jamshedpur athletes shine on day 1 of IMF East Zone Sport Climbing championship

Jamshedpur, September 27: Athletes from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) dominated the first day of the IMF East Zone Sport Climbing Championship 2024, held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.

In the Lead Men’s category, TSAF athletes swept the podium with Ronit Bandra winning gold, Talim Ansari taking silver, and Mukesh Karwa securing bronze. The Lead Women’s category also saw TSAF athletes excelling, with Joga Purty clinching gold, Aastha Rani Bhuiyan taking silver, and Kiran Singh Thakur winning bronze.

In the Junior Girls Bouldering event, Muskan Bandra secured the gold, Nandini Singh won silver, and Savitri Samad took home the bronze.

Mukul Vinayak Chaudhari, Chief of Sports at Tata Steel, was the guest for the prize distribution ceremony of Day 1.

The IMF East Zone Sport Climbing Championship 2024, organized by TSAF, is being held at the TSAF Sport Climbing Academy at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur and will be held from September 26 to 29.

More than 150 participants from Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha are competing in various climbing disciplines, including Lead, Speed, and Bouldering.

The championship will feature climbers in the following categories: Sub Junior Boys and Girls, Junior Boys and Girls, Open Men’s and Women’s.

The inauguration ceremony took place today, with Manik Banerjee (Chairman of the National Sport Climbing Championship), Debraj Dutta (Chairman of IMF East Zone), and Akash (Area Manager for Sports Academies and Adventure Program, Tata Steel) present as guests.
