Truckers demand opening of Sundernagar-Marine route

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Truck and Trailor Owners Association has urged the deputy commissioner to open Sundernagar-Marine Drive in the day.

A delegation of the association led by its president Kulwinder Singh and general secretary Birbal Ojha submitted a memorandum to the DC to the effect.

In the memorandum the association stated that Sundernagar-Marine Drive route remains shut during relaxation of no-entry time.

Heavy vehicles have been banned to take the route during day time because of which the truck owners are incurring heavy financial losses, the memorandum stated.

The association argued that recurring traffic snarls in the city were being caused as the minibus drivers parked their vehicles in the middle of roads.

To take more passengers in the minibus drivers often park their vehicles outside bus terminals at Mango. The roadside traders on Dimna and Bhuiyandih also contribute to the traffic jam, the association said.

It also urged the DC to allow heavy vehicles ply on Kharkai Bridge at Adityapur which could lessen incidents of traffic jams.
