Jamshedpur : Amidst the ongoing dispute over the barricading of the shops along Bistupur Main Road, a tripartite meeting between traders, local administration and Jusco was organised on Tuesday at the office of Dhalbhum SDO. The meet ended indecisive with differences of opinions.
During a two-hour long meeting it was decided that there will be adequate number of openings in the barricades so as to enable the customers for approaching the shops with much ease, but there were difference of opinion over the number of gaping that led to the meeting to end without any decision.
During the meeting Jusco and local administration agreed to allow four gaps between the stretch starting from the point of Kwality Restaurant to Archie�s Gallery, however representatives of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) demanded at least six openings.
At the end it was decided by the sub-divisional officer, Dhalbhum Prem Ranjan will visit spot visit on Wednesday so that it could be observed if the customers as well as the shop-keepers will face any inconvenience in the situation of four gapping between the stretch.
Dhalbhum Prem Ranjan and deputy superintendent of police (law and order) Kanhaiya Upadhyay, Capt. Dhananjay Mishra, deputy general manager, Jamshedpur Town Services, Jusco, SCCI president Suresh Sonthalia and vice-president Bharat Bhasani, sub-divisional officer, were present.
The DSP (law and order), Upadhyay said that there was difference of opinion between Jusco and the traders’ body as well as the shop-keepers and therefore the meeting was inconclusive.
The work of further fencing of the shops line along the Bistupur Main Road has been kept suspended after a strong protest by the shop-keepers on Monday. The work of fencing will resume only amicable decision is taken.
In a memorandum to SDO Prem Ranjan the Chamber had said that since the Main Road will be barricaded, customers will be discouraged to visit Bistupur Main Road. Already in a depressed market condition, and upcoming new markets, the business has shifted elsewhere. These barricades will further bring down their business to a complete zero.
Shop-keepers of Bistupur had staged a massive blockade in protest against installation of barricades in front of shops at the posh marketplace on Monday.
Actively supported by the Singhbhum Chamber Commerce and Industry (SCCI) functionaries, the shop-keepers were demanding removal of the iron barricades that has been put up in front of their respective shops.
The traffic department along with the support of Jusco has embarked on a drive to streamline traffic movement in city.
