Tributes pour in as a cross section of people remember Ataljee in Jamshedpur


Jamshedpur: Rich tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at a condolence meet organized at Tulsi Bhavan, Bistupur, by the Jamshedpur Mahanagar unit of Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday evening.

Members of various political parties, social and cultural organizations as well as the citizens paid floral tributes to the veteran politician. The BJP leaders and supporters also installed hoardings at various places across the city to pay tributes to the former PM. In some of the hoardings, lines from Vajpayee’s poems were also mentioned.

Schools, colleges and government offices remained closed today. People got updates about Vajpayee’s funeral procession through TV and social media. Big banners, cutouts and hoardings were put up at Tulsi Bhavan.

Those who addressed the condolence meet included MLA Menka Sardar, district BJP president Dinesh Kumar, former MP Abha Mahato, ASIA president Inder Agrawal, Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Ashok Bhalotia and journalist Jaiprakash Rai.

In his address, the BJP president said Vajpayee had always kept the nation above party. He said following the moderate ideology of the veteran leader would be true homage to him.

Abha Mahato said she was fortunate to have worked twice under the guidance of the former PM.

Jaiprakash Rai said people will continue to draw inspiration from the life of the former PM.

Congress leader Riyazuddin Khan said Vajpayee was loved and respected by one and all.

Among others who paid tributes to Vajpayee included Jharkhand Women’s Commission president Kalyani Sharan, Khadi Board member Kulwant Singh Bunty, Sanjeev Kumar, Rajesh Shukla, Manoranjan Das, Amarpreet Singh Kale, Chandrashekhar Mishra, Vinod Singh, Reeta Mishra and Poonam Vig.
