Gamharia : RJD paid rich tributes to the former chief minister of Bihar Karpoori Thakur on his 22nd death anniversary. RJD workers present on the occasion garlanded his photo and paid tribute to him. Party’s state secretary Dev Prakash Devta highlighted his contribution to the society.
After India gained independence, Thakur worked as a teacher in his village’s school. He became a member of the Bihar Vidhan Sabha in 1952. He was arrested for leading P & T employees during the general strike of the Central Government employees in 1960.
In 1970, he undertook a fast unto death for 28 days to promote the cause of labourers. On the occasion Pushplta Mahato , Anju Murmu , Lakipriya Mandal, Suresh Kumar Sinha , Raj Kumari Singh, Santosh Mahato , Vasudev Prasad and Ashutosh Rana were present.
