Transporter shot at and injured near NH-33, police pick three suspects

Jamshedpur : In a mid-night shooting incident, a transporter Rajiv Pal ( 25) was shot at and injured along the NH-33 near Mango under Olidih police station area.

A resident of Sankosai in Mango, Rajiv was returning home on his motorcycle when suddenly two bike-borne criminals opened fire and attacked him near Vasundhara Apartments.

A police team which was passing through the highway rushed him to Tata Main Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Doctors attending him said that he was out of danger.

Sources informed that Rajiv has a criminal background and was sent to jail on being accused of possessing a fire-arms a year ago. He was released from jail on September 30 this year. The transporter is also said to be indulged in a gang-war at Mango and Olidih areas of the city.

The police believe that the transporter knows who the assailants were and the victim was not willing to reveal. The police have recovered an empty cartridge from the place of firing. The police also recovered Rajiv’s motorcycle which they found lying on the highway.

Superintendent of police (City) Karthik S said that the investigation was on. “We have picked up two-three youths suspected to be involved in the firing at the transporter. We have rounded the suspects on the basis of Rajiv’s enmity in the past,” said the City SP. He claimed the attackers will be traced and arrested soon,” said the city SP.

Sources went on to inform that Pratik Gaud might have been involved in the attack due to the old enmity. “We have reached out at the criminal involved in the shooting. But we have to find out the exact reason behind the shooting,” said the officer on condition of anonymity.
