Trains via Tatanagar to remain cancelled due to modernisation work

Jamshedpur: Following modernisation of Champa railway yard in Bilaspur railway division under South East Central Railway zone, several trains traveling via Tatanagar will be hit.The disruption in train services in Chakradharpur railway division will remain for six days from January 25-30.

Railway officials said several weekly trains passing through Tatanagar railway station would remain cancelled. The Udaipur-Shalimar Weekly Express,Porbandar-Santragachi Weekly Express and Howrah-Mumbai Weekly Express which passes through Tatanagar will remain cancelled on January 25.

The Shalimar-Bhuj Weekly Superfast Express will remain cancelled on January 26 while Santragachi-Porbandar Weekly Express will remain cancelled on January 27. The Shalimar-Udaipur Weekly Express and Mumbai-Howrah Weekly Express will remain cancelled on January 27. The Nanded-Santragachi Weekly Express will remain cancelled on January 28.

Apart from cancellation, several trains would be controlled between three to four hours in Tatanagar-Bilaspur section from january 25 to 30. The trains include Pune-Howrah Azad Hind Express, Mumbai-Howrah Mail, Haridwar-PuriUtkal Express, Kurla-Howrah Gyaneshwari Express, Rajendranagar-Durg South Bihar Express and Howrah-Mumbai Express.

Tatanagar station director H K Balmuchu said that they got an official circular regarding the railway block in Bilaspur division. “We are spreading the message for the passengers so that they are aware about the decisions.The block would be undertaken for modernisation work of railway tracks and signalling system,” he added.
Chakradharpur is the highest revenue earning railway division in terms of freight in the country.Notably, about 150 passenger trains pass through various stations of Chakradharpur railway division every day. The Tatanagar station assumes importance in view because it is located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers daily.
