Trains on the Howrah-Tatanagar to remain affected today

Jamshedpur, April 14: Passengers traveling on Howrah- Tatanagar route need to be careful tomorrow. Movement of passenger and goods trains on the Howrah-Tatanagar and Tatanagar -Chakradharpur section of South-Eastern Railway (SER) will be affected on Saturday ( tomorrow).

In order to launch two limited height subways the restrictions have been made. The two subways will come up between Rajkharswan-Barabamboo and Barabamboo-Chakradharpur railway stations.

The disruption, called “Traffic-cum-Power block”, will start from 12.30 pm and continue till 7 in the evening. Besides subways, the overhead high-tension cables will be also fixed at a few places, SER sources said.

Garden Reach, the Kolkata-based headquarters of South Eastern Railway, issued a circular in this regard today, saying that because of the traffic-cum-power block, several passenger trains would either short-terminated or rescheduled. No trains will be cancelled.

Two trains the Haridwar-PuriUtkal Express ( 18478) which travels via Tatanagar will be detained for 20 minutes in the Tatanagar-Chakradharpur section of SER while the Tatanagar-Bilaspur Passenger ( 58113) will see short detention of 30 minutes in the Chakradharpur section.

As per information, the 12871 Up Howrah-TitlagarhIspatSuprefast Express will be short terminated at Tatanagar and will run back as 12872 Dn from Tatanagar to Howrah. The Up train from Howrah reaches Tatanagar at 10.45 am while the Dn train leaves Tatanagar for Howrah at 2.25 pm.

Similarly, 12872 DnTitlagarh-Howrah Ispat Express originating from Titlagarh will be short terminated at Chakradharpur and will run back as 12871 Up from Chakradharpur to Titlagarh. Hence, the services of the train will remain cancelled between Tatanagar and Chakradharpur.

The 18189 Tatanagar-Alleppey Express will be rescheduled to leave Tatanagar at 6.20 pm instead of 3.30 pm. � The Chakradharpur-Howrah Passenger ( 58012) will be rescheduled to leave Chakradharpur at 7.20 pm instead of 5 pm on Saturday.

According to the railway circular, movement of several long distance trains would be affected due to short detention. The Howrah-Mumbai(CST) Gitanjali Express ( 12860) will see short detention of half-an-hour in Chakradharpur division of SER while the Durg-Rajendranagar South Bihar Express ( 13287) will be detained for one-and-half-hours in SER section due to the traffic block.

Located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route Tatanagar is an important station. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a daily traffic of 90 mail, express and passenger trains, besides a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers.
