Training on disaster management at Tata Steel West Bokaro Division

West Bokaro, July 18: With an objective to develop in-house trained emergency response team for any disaster, Tata Steel West Bokaro Division is organizing a three-day �Emergency Response Training Programme for Disaster Management� for its employees at JRD Tata Auditorium, West Bokaro.

The session was inaugurated today by Sahabji Kuchroo, Chief Operations, Tata Steel (West Bokaro) in the presence of Mohan Mahto, President, Rastriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh (RCMS), Praveen Sinha, Chief, Human Resources Management, Tata Steel (West Bokaro) and Manoj Singh, Head, Security, Tata Steel (West Bokaro).

The training session is being attended by more than 40 employees in the first phase and will include class room training and demonstration on Medical First Responder, Collapse Structure Search & Rescue, Fire Management and Lifesaving & Search equipment for the management of various contingencies.

Talking about the approach to disaster management, Kuchroo said, �Planning is the most crucial part of any disaster management. One must identify all possible risks or threats and make the workforce future ready to avoid any disaster. This training will help to increase awareness on various aspects of disaster management.� �Safety must be a habit and should be imbibed in our culture to achieve the target of �Zero Incident�, added Kuchroo.

Emphasizing the importance of safety, Mahto said: �We celebrated the month of June as �Zero Incident Month� at West Bokaro to inculcate the safety culture among employees and this training will help us be prepared for any disaster.�

Under this initiative, a total of 100 employees will be covered this year. Total 95 employees were trained under this initiative last year.
