Jamshedpur : Train services were hit on the Tata-Patna route for several hours today after an express train was derailed near Patna Sahib station under Danapur division of East Central Railway zone .
The Tata-Danapur Express which left Tatanagar railway station at 8.15 am was terminated at Asansol. The train was sent back to Tatanagar.
Officials of South Eastern Railway ( SER) said that 12 bogies of the passenger train was derailed, although there was no casualty.
Station manager of Tatanagar , Awtar Singh said that the Tata-South Bihar Express which leaves Tatanagar at around 7.30 pm would run as per schedule. However, he said that the train might be short terminated.
A counter was opened at the Tatanagar railway station so that passengers not willing to travel can cancel their tickets and get back the refunds.
Meanwhile, a section of passengers created ruckus at Tatanagar railway station when they came to know about diversion of a few trains heading to Tatanagar from north India.
Railway sources said that due to diversion the New Delhi-Puri Purushottam Superfast Express was running about two hours late.
