Tragedy on NH-33: Ranchi Resident Killed in Road Accident Near Chandil; He was returning from a wedding in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: A tragic road accident on National Highway-33 near Ghorlili under Chandil police station claimed the life of Punit Kangad (38), a resident of Ranchi, late on Saturday night. He was critically injured when his motorcycle was hit by a speeding unidentified vehicle and later succumbed to his injuries.

According to information, Punit Kangad was a resident of Srinagar Colony, Namkum, Ranchi, and was employed at a private school. He had come to Jamshedpur to attend a wedding ceremony at a relative’s house in Mango’s Jawahar Nagar Road No. 6.

While he reached Jamshedpur with family members by car, he was returning to Ranchi alone on his motorcycle when the accident occurred. Near the Ghorlili area on NH-33, an unknown vehicle allegedly rammed his bike with great force, throwing him onto the road and leaving him seriously injured.

Local residents immediately rushed to his aid and informed the Chandil police. Police reached the spot promptly and shifted the injured man to MGM Hospital by ambulance. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival. The news of the accident plunged the family into deep grief.

Punit was the sole breadwinner of the family and is survived by his wife and a young child. Family members reached the hospital late at night and completed the identification formalities. Chandil police conducted the inquest and sent the body for post-mortem examination.

Police have launched a search to identify the unknown vehicle and its driver by scanning nearby CCTV footage and questioning local residents. Officials said efforts are on to trace the vehicle and take necessary legal action at the earliest.
