Ranchi: Urban Development Minister CP Singh said that traffic rules are not only for common man but for all.
He said that the way a common man is penalized on charges of breaking traffic rules the same action should also be taken against VIPs and police personnel found violating traffic rules.
He said that henceforth it would be made mandatory for police personnel and constables to wear helmets while driving two-wheelers. He issued directives that entry of heavy vehicles would be banned before 10 pm.
Singh was held a meeting today with chief secretary and other senior officials on beautification of the city and traffic movement.
CP Singh asked the officials of the department of drinking water and sanitation to ensure timely supply of drinking water and complete repair of defunct supply lines. Ranchi Mayor Asha Lakra stressed on beautification of ponds and lakes in the city.
Chief secretary Rajiv Gauba observed that Ranchi which is the State Capital should be developed into a model city.
He laid stress on streamlining traffic system and advocated for installation of CCTV cameras in selected spots in the city. He argued that if CCTV cameras are installed it would help in crime control and better traffic management.
Secretary of Urban Development department AK Singh presented reports on widening of important road stretches in the city and suggested installation of LED lights in place of high-mast lights.
On the occasion CEO of Ranchi Municipal Council Prashant Kumar elaborated on development initiatives being taken up for the capital. He presented reports on short-term and long-term measures for streamlining city traffic system
