Jamshedpur: A helmet checking drive was launched in Sonari by the district police on Friday. Over hundred vehicles were seized by the police during the campaign.
Cops released several motorists after a warning for ensuring that pillion riders wear helmet as well.
The drive started near the Sonari Airport. Cops had partially barricaded the main road to inspect motorists for compliance of road safety rules. The documents, driving licence and insurance papers were examined by the traffic police officials.
Traffic police officials said the traffic campaign was launched as part of the 10 day long traffic awareness campaign ‘Parivartan’ which came to a conclusion today at JRD Tata Sports Complex.
Several motorists not wearing helmets were advised to wear helmet and carry documents by the volunteers of Parivartan. They were also given handbills by the volunteers.
