Jamshedpur: A joint team of district traffic and transport departments here on Tuesday launched a campaign to free the National Highway 33 from encroachment. Many heavy vehicles parked recklessly on the sides of the highway were removed with the help of cranes. Several vehicles were removed by their drivers following police action.
The campaign was launched throughout the stretch of the NH33 falling in the vicinity of the city. Truck drivers were asked not to park their vehicles here and there. Leading the drive, DSP traffic said the reckless parking of vehicles often led to fatal road accidents. News of many vehicles ramming into stationery vehicles parked carelessly on the roadsides and resulting into deaths and injuries keep cropping up in newspapers every other day, he said.
