No Entry of heavy vehicles from October 9-12
Jamshedpur: As Durga Puja approaches, the Jamshedpur administration has announced a comprehensive traffic plan to manage the expected influx of visitors and ensure smooth movement during the celebrations. From October 9 to October 13, specific traffic regulations will be enforced to minimize congestion and enhance safety.
Key Traffic Guidelines:
- Heavy Vehicle Movement:
- Heavy vehicles will be allowed to operate from between 5 AM and 11:30 AM from October 9 to October 12.
- From 11:30 AM to 5 AM on October 9 to 11, the operation of all heavy vehicles, except buses, will be completely prohibited.
- On October 12 and 13, heavy vehicles and four-wheelers will be banned until 6 AM on the day of immersion.
- Bus Operations: Buses will continue to run during the restricted hours.

Designated Parking and Penalties:
- Residents and visitors are advised to park only in designated areas. Parking on the roadside will incur penalties.
- Heavy vehicles must be parked exclusively at Transport Park during the festival.
Special Routes and Parking Arrangements:
- One-Way System: A one-way system will be implemented for auto rickshaws and other vehicles:
- Autos from Mango can travel towards the Sakchi roundabout via MGM Hospital.
- Autos returning from Sakchi to Mango will use the old bridge.
- Vehicles heading to Bhalubasa and Baridiha will be redirected via Straight Mile Road.
- Special Parking for Devotees: Parking facilities will be available for devotees visiting the Kashidih Puja pandal at locations such as DSM School, Sagar Hotel, and more.
Additional Regulations:
- Motorists are urged to wear helmets, avoid dangerous driving maneuvers, and refrain from using mobile phones while driving. Violators may face fines and license suspensions.
- Parking on Marine Drive will be completely prohibited from 11 AM to 5 AM during the festival dates.
- Pedestrians will still have access to the old bridge on Kharkai Bridge, but vehicular entry will be restricted for those heading to Adityapur.
Emergency Protocols:
- Visitors are advised not to handle unknown objects and to immediately report any suspicious items to the police control room by calling 100.
- During the festival, vehicles belonging to the administration, electricity department, Red Cross Society, and fire brigade will be exempt from the bans, and members of the peace committee can operate small vehicles with prior permission.
The administration has appealed to all city residents to comply with the traffic rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable Durga Puja celebration.
