Traders organize nukad sabhas to mobilize people against rising crime graph

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries has embarked on a 17-day protest against police inaction after in a recent case where Rs 4.25 lakh was looted at gunpoint from two Jamshedpur-based traders.

The organization has started nukad sabhas (roadside meetings) at prominent junctions in the city to inform people about the inefficient performance of the cops vis-a-vis maintaining law and order and at the same time to seek support of the commoners in making the movement a complete success.

The meetings were held at Sakchi And Kharangajhar.We are concerned over the situation in our city and want to express our anger and help people to unite to safeguard their interests,” said JCCI president Mohanlal Agarwal.

The traders’ organization, particularly foodgrain merchants, alleged that crime against businessmen has increased manifold in just a few months and yet police claim that action is being taken.

On September 29, two armed persons on a bike looted Rs 4.25 lakh at gunpoint from traders Umesh Agrawal and Kanhaiya Prasad Nagelia at Burudih railway crossing in the Sundernagar area. tnnThey were travelling in a car towards their residence in Bistupur from their shops in Krishi Bazaar Samity, Pursudih.

On the final day we will organize sit-in demonstration outside the DC’s office demanding transfer of inept police officers from the district and simultaneously seek posting of efficient officers at the police stations,” said another functionary of JCCI.
