Ranchi/Jamshedpur, July 14: Jharkhand on Tuesday, July 14 recorded 250 coronavirus cases the highest in a single day in the state.
Coronavirus cases in Jharkhand have crossed 4000 mark with 250 new cases reported on Tuesday. With new cases the state tally has risen to 4228.
Jharkhand on Tuesday witnessed three more Covid deaths taking the death toll in the state to 36.
Two patients died at Tata Main Hospital making the total number of the hospital’s Covid ward to five during the past 10 days. Both the persons who died today were women, including one of them a resident of Jamadoba in Dhanbad, thus the total count of Covid deaths took place in the East Singhbhum district so far to four.
The other woman who died of the deadly disease was a 50-year-old woman who was a resident of Bhatia Bustee in Kadma.Revealing about the death of the Kadma woman, district surveillance officer, Dr AK Lal said that she was admitted at the Tata Main Hospital since the fortnight, but was later tested for Coronavirus positive.
The third death in the state was reported from Raidih block in Gumla. The elderly died during treatment at Gurunanak Hospital in Ranchi.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has reached 694. With 22 new cases reported on Tuesday, July 14, the total cases in East Singhbhum district stands at 694. July 7 saw maximum cases being reported in single day in Jamshedpur with 58 positives. Earlier 43 cases came up on May 30 while July 2 recorded 45 cases in a single day.
The district administration spokesperson informed that 22 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Tuesday while 10 people have recovered and were discharged from TMH COVID-19 ward.
Of the 22 new positives on Tuesday, 5 persons have travel history while 17 persons came in contact with other COVID patients.
1 person each has returned from Chennai, Bengal, Bangalore and 2 has travel history to Bihar.
Of the new positives in Jamshedpur, 1 person is a resident of Bahragora, 6 from Begbera, 1 Parsudih, 1 Burmamines, 3 Mango, 1 Jugsalai, 1 Karandih, 1 Gurabanda, 1 Sonari, 1 Baridih, 1 Birsanagar and 4 are residents of Kadma. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.
Other Jharkhand positive cases were reported from Bokaro 5, Chatra 10, Deoghar 3, Dhanbad 11, Dumka 4, Garhwa 5, Giridih 21, Godda 6, Hazaribagh 4, Jamtara 2, Khunti 1, Koderma 26, Latehar 33, Lohardaga 5, Pakur 11, Palamu 3, Ramgarh 6, Ranchi 59, Sahebganj 6, Seraikela 3, Simdega 2 and West Singhbhum 2 taking the state corona tally to 4228.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 1761 and fatalities at 36 while 2428 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 2245 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 694 cases out of a total of 4228. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
