Jamshedpur: Tata Main Hospital (TMH), under Tata Steel, is set to introduce Post Graduate studies in Nursing from the upcoming academic session. This expansion includes the addition of ten seats for PG studies. Previously, TMH’s Nursing College offered B.Sc Nursing with 40 seats, which has now been increased to 60 seats. The Nursing College covers various specializations, including Medical Surgical Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing, and Community Health Nursing.

This initiative provides new opportunities for female students in the field of nursing. Additionally, TMH has gained recognition to offer super specialty degrees in Emergency Medicine (DRNB degree) and Cardiology. The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences has granted permission for these courses, benefiting medical professionals.

TMH’s Nursing School, established in 1939, holds the distinction of being the oldest nursing school in both Jharkhand and unified Bihar. Initially, it provided training for General Nursing and Midwifery courses. In 2015-2016, the school expanded its offerings to include a four-year B.Sc. Nursing degree. Recognized by the Indian Nursing Council in New Delhi, the nursing school is affiliated with the Jharkhand Nurses Registration Council in Ranchi and Kolhan University in Chaibasa. The introduction of new courses and increased seats aims to contribute to healthcare education and employment opportunities in the region.
