TMH Jamshedpur opens COVID care unit in Hotel Sonnet

Jamshedpur, August 1: TMH has also tied up with Hotel Sonnet for using its premises as COVID care unit. Moreover, the hospital has converted GT hostel 4 and 3 as COVID care while work is on to augment 100 bed facilities at Tinplate Hospital and Jamshedpur Eye Hospital for coronavirus treatment. Dr Rajan Chaudhry, general manager, medical services, Tata Steel, said, “There has been scarcity of beds at TMH Jamshedpur. Of the 888 beds 632 are occupied and have opened COVID care unit in Hotel Sonnet. The fact is that all the 54 ICU beds at Tata Main Hospital are occupied and all the patients admitted to ICU are critical.”

Chaudhary informed that the hospital now has 251 beds where corona suspects are being treated while some of the beds at the ward are also prepared with ventilators but it does not have ICU facilities.  He further said that patient number will increase and we are prepared for the challenge but the main issue is shortage of medical staff including nurses as 40 medical staffs have tested positive for coronavirus. Chaudhary went on to say that Labour Room at the hospital has been shut after a corona positive case came up from the department. The Labour room will be opened after couple of days.
